YDMC CONTINUATION PLAN COVID-19

April 7, 2020

To our patients and broader community,

The staff, nurses, and doctors at Young District Medical Centre are working hard to support you and your families through these challenging and stressful times. The staff do have many questions to ask and the QR code to use on arrival. It may annoy you , but it is also an effort for the staff to continue the process all day to try to keep the building and staff safe.

We have made some changes to the way we deliver our services to you to improve your safety in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is very important that we all do our bit to prevent the spread of the virus and “flatten the curve”. This can be done by practising social distancing, washing hands frequently, and using appropriate isolation measures. It is vital we ALL help to do this.

It is also important to maintain good care of your health at this time.

This means:

  • Seeking help if you have any concerning medical symptoms
  • Maintaining regular review of chronic medical conditions
  • Continuing medications prescribed to you and any monitoring this may require
  • Obtaining immunisations

To continue to offer these services safely we request that you contact the practice by telephone initially (02 6382 1544) and our dedicated reception staff will assist you to organise a telephone appointment, or attendance in person if this is required.

Services related to antenatal and postnatal care, immunisations, and other injections or procedures will also continue by attendance at the practice, after your phone call to arrange.

We remain fully staffed with our usual doctors, nurses, and receptionists. Our doctors are also continuing to support residents of the local aged care facilities, as well as providing services to the Mercy Care Centre and Young District Hospital.

We want to thank you for the work you are doing to follow the directives from the government regarding social distancing and acknowledge the stress that this has placed on many members of our community. We particularly acknowledge the financial strain this situation has created for many of our patients. Please be aware that the telephone services are currently being “bulk billed” through Medicare.

Please don’t hesitate to contact our dedicated reception staff if you are unsure about attending an appointment and they will help you to decide the safest course of action.

From the team at Young District Medical Centre
