are free resources to help you give quality palliative care to people with an intellectual disability:

•              Tailored model of palliative care for people with intellectual disability.

•              Toolkit for health professionals.

•              Toolkit for people with intellectual disability and supporters.

•              Easy Read story to help people with intellectual disability understand what good palliative care is. 

These resources have been developed by the Department of Developmental Disability Neuropsychiatry, University of New South Wales Medicine. The resources are part of the Improving Palliative Care Services for People with an Intellectual Disability Project.

To help with early diagnosis and treatment of haemochromatosis, the Australian Government is supporting Haemochromatosis Australia to create a new, nationwide, cloud-based patient registry. 

The registry will collect health data from patients across the country. This data will help: 

• develop new treatments for haemochromatosis 
• understand its role in chronic conditions like liver disease, arthritis, diabetes, heart issues, and brain health. 

How you can help 

The registry was launched on 14 August 2024, and is open for registration. https://registry.haemochromatosis.org.au/   For more information about haemochromatosis, visit www.ha.org.au or call 1300 019 028. Be part of this project and help improve the future of haemochromatosis treatment and research! 

The practice welcomes Dr Sai Win to commence his registrar training with us from 8/10/24 ; he is a Graduate from University on NSW and has been practicing in Boorowa from 2014 to 2024 under RVTS Scheme.

You can claim a financial subsidy towards the following if you are eligible:

• private vehicle travel
• public transport (trains, buses and ferries)
• taxis
• air travel (in special circumstances)
• accommodation (both with family and friends and in not-for-profit and commercial accommodation)

To be eligible for financial assistance from IPTAAS, you must:

• be a resident of NSW or Lord Howe Island
• be enrolled with Medicare
• not be receiving, or eligible for, financial assistance for travel and accommodation from third party insurance or other Australian government services
• be referred for treatment at your nearest health service
• receive treatment at an approved health service
• travel from your residence for treatment at least 100km (one way), or at least 200kms in a week by making multiple trips to and from treatment
