An electronic prescription is a digital version of a paper prescription. It is a safe and convenient alternative that Australians can choose when they next need a prescription from their healthcare provider.
Instead of receiving a paper copy, consumers can receive an electronic prescription as a text message or email, or have it securely stored in their Active Script List. The Active Script List allows people to keep all their electronic prescriptions in one place, making it easier to manage medicines and share prescriptions with their chosen pharmacy.
Consumers can also manage their electronic prescriptions using the 1800MEDICARE app. This free mobile app allows people to easily view and manage their electronic prescription tokens, access their Active Script List and view important Medicare information.
